Show Tack Trunks by Häst
Häst is pleased to be able to offer the finest in show tack trunks on the market.
These are not mass produced. Each is carefully crafted from the best
materials available for years of reliable service. Some trunks have been in service
for well over 20 years.
The basic truck is made of poplar for the upper and lower trim while the sides are
cabinet grade birch plywood. The colour can be made of a heavy fabric
for a
rich texure,covering with a polycarbonate sheet. Polycarbonate should not be
confused with plexiglass which can easily shatter. Polycarbonate is the same
material that is used in security that is considered "bullet proof". And
while twice as expensive as plexiglass, this material can really take a beating! The
construction is absolutely solid. The lip design between the lid and the lower trunk
is almost air tight, and certainly can take a heavy rain with the contents staying dry.
All wood surfaces have two coats of a polyurethane outdoor grade varnish. We
leave the wood natural so that if a small area does sustain damage one will not have to
try to match colours of stain. The interior of the trunk has a high/low rail system
that will accommodate a wide variety of trays, some shown below. The dimensions of
the trunk are 37 inches wide by 23 inches across and 27 1/2 inches tall. On the
bottom there are attached pine skids which increase the height by an additional 1 1/4
inches. The interior dimensions to the top of the lip are 34 1/2 inches wide by 20
1/2 inches across and 24 inches deep. There is room under the lid for a document
holder.
There are many tray possibilities, others not shown here, that will work well in
this trunk. The high/low rail system can allow for many custom applications.
The trays shown (contents obviously not included) represent three that work very well
together and are very popular. All three nestle nicely will plenty of room below for
a saddle, pads, blankets and many other things.
We are in the process of making some changes, which we strongly feel will be
for the better, which will make the trunk somewhat lighter in weight, a
little less expensive to manufacture which will be passed along to you, and
give customers a much wider colour selection. First, we are planning
on changing the clear polycarbonate, which has really increased in price
lately, with "Wilsonart" laminate. As long as you have access to their
laminate selection, you can specify that colour and texture and it can be
duplicated in Roanoke, as there is a local distributor of Wilsonart
products. The laminate is proving to be more stable with regard to
temperature changes. We are hoping to get a unit photographed soon so
that you can see the difference. And second, any logo that you might
want will be done at the user end, meaning you can go to your local sign
company with what you want and easily apply this to the laminate (or, we can
still do this for you at an additional cost).
Pricing: The basic trunk, your choice of laminate,
will be $624, FOB Floyd Virginia. The trays, no matter what size or shape,
will be $36 each. Because the laminate has to be special ordered for
each unit, 1/3 of the total cost should accompany the initial order.
